Trucking Company Reorganization

Poole Audit was contracted by a large aggregate company to audit, identify, and reconcile management issues of a north Texas trucking company that was a subsidiary of the aggregate company. The trucking company fleet included company owned vehicles as well as owner-operated vehicles that specifically served the delivery of the aggregate.  

Findings:

It was determined quickly that there was an employee with too much authority governing trucking operations, delivery assignments, and deduction of truck maintenance expenses based solely on favoritism. This issue existed for more than a year, and resulted in large receivables amounts not accounted for, causing an imbalance of income and profitability for the owner-operators.

Solution:

Once the problems had been identified and reported to the client, Poole Audit was given the authority to reconcile income, write off, and write down expenses.  We reconciled the income and expenses for all company owned tractor trailers. We met with every owner-operator and reconciled their records and receipts versus the company records and wrote off any discrepancies.

After completing the restructuring, Poole Audit was asked to write and implement the processes and procedures for future trucking operations, as well as hiring and training the office staff to implement the processes and procedures.
